5100 Tread Nose Compound Adhesive is a solvent free, non-flammable, high performance Epoxy Caulking Compound used for indoor installations of Rubber and Vinyl Stair Treads. This epoxy caulking compound provides support to the “nose” area, particularly on stairs that have irregular wear or oddly shaped leading edges.
Trowel Size
No Trowel Needed, Applied with Cartridge applicator or putty knife to the inside radius of tread noses.
Approved Substrates:
Properly prepared interior porous and non-porous on grade, below grade and above grade Concrete, Terrazzo, Ceramic Tile, Metal, well adhered Epoxy, Wood and Cement-based self-leveling underlayments and patching compounds
Adhesive Working Temperatures:
Area and material should be maintained between 65°F (19°C) and 85°F(30°C) for at least 48 hours before installation, during installation, and thereafter.
Adhesive Working Time:
Flash Time*: Immediate Installation
Working Time**: 30 Minutes
Mixing Procedures
Quart Units: Add all of Part B into Part A. By Hand, mix using the furnished paddle with a rotary motion while lifting from the bottom. By Drill, less than 300 RPM, mix using mixing paddle. Mix until no streaking and then an additional three (3) minutes. Higher mixing speeds and/or longer mixing time will reduce the open time/working time and can cause premature curing of the adhesive. Adhesive will not cure if not properly mixed. Immediately remove mixed material from the container.
13 ½ Ounce Dual Cartridges: Material is self-mixed when pumped through cartridge tip furnished. When applying, the first six (6) inches of unmixed material from each nozzle must be discarded to prevent bond failure and oozing of unmixed material down the face of the riser! It is recommended to transfer nozzle to each new cartridge to prevent discarding material from each new cartridge.
Moisture and PH Requirements
ASTM F 1869; Calcium Chloride, 5 lbs
ASTM F 2170; Relative Humidity, 80%
pH; 7-10
